Mark Kortnik is an oil painter whose subjects range from dramatic wildlife to beautiful florals and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Mark and his wife Mark was born in 1953 in Sacramento, California with a talent to create art at a very young age. He has dedicated years to developing his unique skill for representational painting. In 1977, Mark earned his Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts at Sacramento State University. In 1986, Mark met his wife, Carol, and moved to Oregon. Mark earns his living as a professional artist selling his work at his gallery/studio in Joseph, on an online website, and by traveling to many of the top rated art shows in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. In 1997 and 1988, "US ART" and "INFORM ART" magazines each did a feature article on Mark's work about combining wildlife and petroglyph images in a realistic composition. Mark has exhibited in Valley Bronze Gallery in Cannon Beach and Astoria, Oregon. He has very successfully sold his work at the CM Russell Western Art Show and Auction and had his best show ever in 2007. Mark is well known for his wildlife images that attempt to convey the "spirit" of the magnificence of the animals he sees but has recently branched out to painting landscapes and floral scenes with a unique contemporary style. This new style is an attempt to give more meaning to the actual act of the painting medium itself on a two dimensional surface, as well as a portrayal of the subject realistically. Mark asks himself in what new ways can he find expression in his work of those things that we might take for granted in life. The spiritual dimension of life expressed in art also inspires Mark's work. Oil paintings created on commission can be arranged by contacting Mark. He invites all to see his artwork on a secure online ordering website: |
